L.D. 50

L.D. 50

Mudvayne was an American nu-metal band from Illinois, formed in 1996. The band became known for its strong visual appearance, which included horror film-styled makeup. The band has sold over six million records worldwide, including nearly three million in the United States.

L.D. 50, originally released in 2000, was praised by critics for its technical and heavy style of music. For the album the band experimented with a ragged, dissonant sound; a sound collage prepared specially for the album that was used as a series of interludes. L.D. 50 was produced by Garth "GGGarth" Richardson (known for his work with Rage Against The Machine) and executive production by Slipknot member Shawn "Clown" Crahan. In the year of its release the album peaked at number one on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart and number 85 on the Billboard 200. Two singles were released: "Dig" and "Death Blooms".

Rolling Stone contributor Ben Ratliff gave the album three out of five stars. Ratliff noted the band's technical background, comparing the songwriting style to that of Nirvana and stating that "the album's interludes are better than those of Slipknot". Blabbermouth.net writer Borivoj Krgin praised its technicality and heaviness.

L.D. 50 is available on HEAVY audiophile black vinyl.
